Alipay Mobile Payment Introduced To Singapore Taxi

Nov. 29, 2017

"In the checkout team, the Chinese waved their cell phone and bought chestnuts without paying a dime, and we felt like a little bit of soil." On the night of August 20, Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong delivered an English speaker at the 2017 National Day Popular Assembly Stressed that Singapore's plan to build a smart country can not do without mobile payments . He shared the story of buying chestnuts in Shanghai and said Singapore has lagged behind some smart cities in China. Now Singapore's business community is introducing China's mobile payment technology. It is understood that a few days ago Singapore's largest taxi company has access to Alipay.

In order to promote the development of mobile payment in Singapore, the Singapore government recently announced the "Smart Nation 2025" 10-year plan. The mobile payment program is also one of the five strategic country items where the Singapore government is working to promote the widespread adoption of smart technologies across the island.

Singapore's commitment to building a smart country is closely linked to the development of China's mobile payments. Lee pointed out that Singapore has lagged behind other cities in promoting smart nation construction such as electronic payment. "In major cities in China, cash is out of date and even debit and credit cards have become less and less."

Lee Hsien Loong mentions a few years ago when Lin Shisheng, a Singapore minister of human resources, bought chestnuts in Shanghai and Lin Ruisheng obviously was out before the ordinary Chinese people who were skilled in paying by mobile payment. In the process of queuing up checkout, many Chinese customers wave their cell phones and take away the chestnuts without paying a dime. Lin Ruisheng think it is a special way of concessions, the results found that they actually use the QR code to buy chestnuts.

In the meantime, Singapore's business community is also introducing mobile payment technology in China. In his speech, Lee Hsien Loong introduced the scenario where "Comfort High Taxi", the largest taxi company in Singapore, officially accesses Alipay. It is understood that more than 15,000 taxis owned by "Goodford Taxi" support mobile payment.

Coincidentally, just a few days ago, Huang Shanzhong, president of the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said in an interview that the Chamber of Commerce encouraged local businesses to accept Alipay to facilitate Chinese tourists, students and workers in Singapore. In his opinion, Singapore is moving towards a cashless society and encouraging local businesses to try out mobile payments as a first step. In the future, this payment method will soon be fully popularized in the private sector.

Alipay has entered Singapore since 2015, and Almost 2,000 merchants in Albania now support Alipay, including Universal Studios, Zoo, Resorts World Sentosa, Metro Merlo and Robinsons.
